Seeking Musicians for Talent Hunt

The Gamma Iota Chapter in conjunction with the Epsilon Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc is hosting its annual TALENT HUNT in Sumter for area high school musicians.  All Instrumentalist, Vocalist, Pianist are encouraged to participate in the annual competition for a chance to win a CASH PRIZE and opportunity to represent the Gamma Iota and Epsilon Lambda Chapters of Omega Psi Phi at its Sixth District Annual Meeting in Spartanburg, SC April 24-27, 2014. Our local winners will compete against musicians from both South Carolina and North Carolina Omega Psi Phi Chapters.  Hotel stay in Spartanburg for the parents of the winning student will be paid. All music must be CLASSICAL or CLASSICAL BROADWAY.

There is NO cost to participate. All entries are free of charge.

 

1.   Contestant must be a high school student within the Sumter, Lee, Clarendon region.

2.   Classical or semi-classical music will be rendered in vocal or instrumental competition. Some selections from Classical Broadway Musicals are acceptable

3.   For the district level, all music is to be memorized. If the contestant does not memorize his/her presentation, 5 points will be deducted from their total score.

4.   Each performance is limited to 6 minutes. Exceeding this time limit will result in a deduction of 5 points.

5.   Three copies of the music is required for the Talent Hunt judges.

6.   The performance is formal. Local level-semi formal. (concert attire)

7.   Proper stage presence, stage decorum, bowing, posture, and expressions are encouraged.

8.   The contestant must not have attained professional status; published musical scores or recordings that have been commercially distributed which would serve as a means of supporting his/her livelihood.
